Lillian Hickey, a senior at Hoosick Falls Central School, has signed a letter of intent to play Division 1 field hockey for the University of Albany Great Danes who finished the 2018 season with a 16-5 overall record.
A reception was held for Lillian Wednesday afternoon. Students and staff representing the entire school celebrated alongside Lillian’s family and coach, Denise Campbell.

“It has been an honor to have coached Lillian for the last five years, said Campbell, “She is an incredible athlete that has worked so hard for the success that she has achieved. Her passion for the game drives her to become a better player every time she puts her stick in her hands. This is an exciting moment for such a special player.”
Rhonda and Jeff Hickey, Lillian’s parents, also expressed how proud they were of their daughter, and thanked the community and Coach Campbell for being so supportive. Jeff specifically commented on the deep commitment Coach Campbell has for the program.
“It takes a lot of hard work, dedication to the sport, and athleticism to be able to play at the Division 1 level. Lillian has showed all three while here at Hoosick Falls. Good thing for all of us that she will be playing her career not far from here so we can all watch her excel at the next level!” said HFCS Athletic Director Tom Husser.
Lillian, who has not decided what she will focus on in her studies at UAlbany, thanked Coach Campbell, her ADK club coaches and her parents for their support.
Hickey, and her fellow Panthers, just completed a fantastic season which brought them to the final four championship that was played last week in Buffalo. Though Hoosick Falls didn’t take the State title, Lillian helped propel her team to an amazing season capturing both the WASAREN/Adirondack league title and the Class C Section II title.
