John Street Sprinkler Line Work Underway

November 17, 2018 By steve bradley

By Doug La Rocque

Work to lay a sprinkler line across John Street in Hoosick Falls to the building housing BYTE Restaurant and an upstairs gallery has begun.  The owners of the establishment plan to open a bed and breakfast above the eatery, but that requires a dedicated water line for the sprinklers, which has to be run from the opposite side of the street.

Work to lay a dedicated sprinkler line across John Street in Hoosick Falls continued well into the evening on Tuesday. Hoosick Falls Highway and Water Department personnel were planning to complete the work in four days or less, with some help from other municipalities. Photo by Doug La Rocque

The Village Board on November 2 gave its blessing for the project to commence on Tuesday, November 13.  Half of the cost of the work is being picked up by the restaurant’s ownership, the other half by the Village, using small city funds that are meant to finance economic development.  The Board approved the expenditure at its November 13 meeting, noting it complies with the low to moderate income requirements.
