Christmas In Cambridge Weekend

December 6, 2018 By steve bradley

Mr. & Mrs. Claus arrive at 6 pm on Friday night December 7 with the annual lighting of the Christmas tree in Memorial Park. There will be extended shopping hours and sales in many locations. Stroll the village and enjoy the shops and the spirit of the season.  Eggnog, cookies, and treats will be provided in selected shops along with a chance to win some Christmas Cash, courtesy of the Chamber.  Remember that every time you shop in a chamber member business, put your name and phone number on the receipt and place it in the raffle bag.  We will be drawing the winning receipt December 22, so you have plenty of time to enter often. Argyle Brewing in the Depot will be hosting the local band Cradle Switch beginning at 7 pm.

Saturday, December 8 has a very full day of events.  Start the day with the Annual Holiday Breakfast at Hubbard Hall, 2 seatings at 9 and 11, reservations suggested.  There will be the Christmas Goodies Holiday Bazaar at the Cambridge United Presbyterian Church. Many shops will be offering special sales and extended hours for the holiday season. Christmas in Cambridge Craft Fair (sponsored by the Cambridge Faculty Association) will be held on Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm at Cambridge Central School. The craft fair is a fundraiser for Operation Santa Claus. Cambridge Valley Fine Art Tour will be taking place in various locations around the village on Saturday and Sunday.   Visit Battenkill Books from 12 to 2 pm for a book signing with Will Moses.  Saturday evening get ready to have some serious fun!  Get your Floats and Ugly Sweaters ready because Saturday night will feature a lighted Christmas Parade and Ugly Sweater Contest. A $25 Chamber Gift Certificate will go to the ugliest sweater and $50 Gift Certificate to the Ugliest sweater group! The lighted Holiday Parade starts at 129 East Main Street. You may bring your float and line up anytime between 5 and 6:45 pm. The Parade will start at 7 pm and end at The Cambridge Railroad Park on Broad Street near Argyle Brewery.  Welcome all groups, floats and Ugly Sweaters!  Judging for sweater contest immediately after the parade on The Cambridge porch.

Sunday, December 9 celebrates the holidays with the lighting of the Eternal Illumination Memorial trees at 5:30 pm. Please contact the Cambridge Lions Club if you would like to purchase a tree.  During the day visit the Cambridge Valley Farmer’s Market from 10 am to 2 pm in the Lovejoy building on the Hubbard Hall Campus and the Cambridge Valley Fine Art Tour continues 10 am to 5 pm. At 6 pm attend a concert at Hubbard Hall featuring the Canadian folk music band Coig, coming to Hubbard Hall for the first time.
