This is year four for Luke Hoag’s campaign to raise money for the Make a Wish Campaign, and on Monday morning, December 3, the students at Tamarac Elementary presented Luke with 4,119 letters to Santa, to deliver to Macy’s on December 7, what is called Believe Day.
Macy’s donates one dollar for each letter to Santa it receives, but doubles that amount on Believe Day. This is the second year that Tamarac has helped the Hoosick Falls sixth grader in his campaign, and more than doubled the amount of letters given Luke last year.

Luke was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at only 16 months old, and at age 3, Make a Wish granted his desire by sending him to Walt Disney World. Now Luke heads up this effort each year to raise money for other deserving kids to enjoy the same feeling on having a wish granted as he did. Last year, Luke raised over $65,000 and plans to exceed that number this year. A part of the 11 year olds campaign was to receive letters from all 50 states.
A caravan will leave Hoosick Falls Central School at 12:30 pm on Friday, to help deliver the letters to the Macy’s store at the Colonie Center.
