Senior Trip Update
At the last regular meeting of the Berlin Central School Board of Education, many concerns were raised about the upcoming Senior Class trip to Virginia Beach, VA, chief of which was a lack of certified lifeguards for any planned swimming in either the ocean or a pool at the house the group is renting. The Board decided that night to put off any approval of the trip pending further discussion at its Round Table meeting.
At that Thursday, January 3 meeting, the Board granted the approvals with the condition that no ocean swimming be allowed unless an ocean-certified lifeguard is present. Similarly, no pool swimming will be allowed, unless a certified lifeguard is present there as well.
The trip does take place while school is in session, something the Board directed at its regular meeting will not be allowed for future trips.
