A fire destroyed a garage located at 485 River Road, just west of Route 67 at the Eagle Bridge, on Friday morning. The call came in to the Buskirk Fire Department, along with other supporting departments, at 9:15 for a structure fire.
When they arrived they found a fully involved fire with two nearby structures threatened. Although the garage was a complete loss, firefighters kept the nearby structures limited to minor damage by quickly using a blanket of foam from hand lines to protect them. Investigators later determined a failed power strip was the cause. West Hoosick, Cambridge, White Creek, Hoosick, Johnsonville, Easton, North Hoosick, Shushan, Greenwich, Hoosick Falls, Pittstown fire departments all responded to the blaze. No one was injured.
