Alex Sotek Sets Two School Records

Submitted by Tim Christiansen

The NL-B swim teams were beaten by the Pittsfield Generals in a dual meet held on Wednesday, December 19, however Alex Sotek continues to impress her coach and teammates.  Alex set a new school record winning the women’s 100-yard freestyle race in :59.24 and reset her own record in the 100-yard backstroke, when she swam to victory once again in a time of 1:08.96.

She wasn’t done there, as she joined three of her teammates to capture the 400-yard freestyle relay race.  The NL-B girls lost the meet however to the Massachusetts school by a score of 64 to 26.

The NL-B boys did not fare much better that day, falling to the Generals 62 to 21.  Laim Buckenroth picked up the boys’ lone individual win in the 500-yard Freestyle, and later joined Jeff Miller and two other teammates to capture the 400-yard Freestyle Relay race.
