Two-term Town Supervisor Colleen Teal has confirmed to The Eastwick Press that she will not seek a third term in office, opting instead to move on to “other things in her life.” Town Clerk Tistrya Houghtling, who recently lost to incumbent Jake Ashby in her bid for the 107th NYS Assembly District, has also confirmed that she will be seeking the Town’s Democratic nomination to succeed Ms. Teal. Houghtling was first elected Town Clerk in 2015, and was re-elected in 2017. She has served three years in the position, and has a year to go in her second term.

Supervisor Teal said after 18 years of public service, four as supervisor and 14 prior to that as Town Clerk, she has some other desires and objectives in her life she would like to pursue. She also said that she feels a lot has been accomplished in the past four years in the town, and it is well positioned to move forward under new leadership. She further told The Eastwick Press, she supports Ms. Houghtling’s bid to succeed her.
The supervisor’s position in New Lebanon is a two-year term, which also includes representing the town on the Columbia County Board of Supervisors, the County’s governing body.
