Wrestling Results From Ken Baker Tourney

Hoosick Falls

With eight wrestlers entered, Hoosick Falls took fourth overall at the Ken Baker Tournament. Four of the team made it to the finals, with one champion and one third place finish.

Craig Sawyer was champion in the 285 pound class, defeating Christian Salvio (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) by fall at 3:07.

Gabe Fisher, at 113 pounds, was defeated by Matt Morris (R-C-S) in the championship match by a 5-4 decision. Matt LaPorte, at 132, finished second to Trent Svingala (Maple Hill) in the championship round by fall at 5:08. Logan Powers, at 138, finished second to two time sectional champ Bobby Treshock (Tamarac) by fall at 1:42. 

Gabe Fisher, center, earned a second place finish it the Ken Baker Tournament in Cambridge. Fisher, a senior, was also recognized as Channel 13’s (WNYT) “Vent Fitness High School Athlete of the Week.” Fisher is an Eagle Scout, member of the National Honor Society and volunteers with the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad. Ethan Mattison, at 152, defeated Shawn Farrell (Mechanicville-Stillwater) for third place by fall at 3:46.

Having dropped from Class C to Class D, the Hoosick Falls team will travel to Warrensburg next weekend to compete in the Class D tournament.

Tamarac

Trevor Bishop, at 99 pounds, was defeated in the championship match by Jair Gomez (Ichabod Crane) by fall at 3:42. Riley Retell was champion at 120 pounds, defeating Max LuxRamos (Ichabod Crane) by fall at 9:53. Hunter Yearsley, at 126 pounds, was defeated in the championship match by Sam Pisculli (Mechanicville-Stillwater) MD 14-2.

Bobby Treshock was champion at 138 pounds over Logan Powers (Hoosick Falls) by fall at 1:42. Payton Nealon at 160 pounds, finished third, defeated over Rick Hernandez (Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) by fall at 3:22. Andrew Yerdon, at 170 pounds, was defeated in the championship match by Cole Haines (Granville) by decision 9-3.

Salem-Cambridge

Charlie Dill, at 106 pounds, defeated Alex Motta (Mechanicville-Stillwater) for third place by fall at 1:54. Hunter Day, at 160 pounds, was defeated by Drew Bogdan (Albany Academy) in the championship match by decision, 1-0.
