Hoosick Falls 7 9 8 6 30

Lake George 18 7 16 14 55

Sunday, 1/27. This late Sunday afternoon game was held in front of a good sized crowd at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls. The #4 (1/22 NYSSA ranking) team in New York State, the Hoosick Falls Panthers, faced the #1 ranked defending state champion Lake George Warriors in the highly anticipated game. Both teams were undefeated coming into the game.

The two Warriors forwards, Mason Flatley (6’5”) and Luke Pelchar (6’3”), are very athletic and their center, Chris Becker (6’7”, 20 points in this game),  is tall, wide and solid, and no one on Hoosick Falls was going to move him out of the way.

It was clear right from the start that the Panthers were going to struggle to score points. Held to single digit scoring in every quarter, the Panthers Tristan Williams did an admirable job scoring inside, with half the Panthers points (15). But with just three other Panthers scoring in mid-single digits, Hoosick Falls could not muster enough offensive firepower to get in the game.

There’s a good chance the Panthers will face the Warriors again. Sectionals are coming up soon and a rematch could be in the cards.
