The 1916 Fourth of July Parade in Petersburgh, at that time also called the Preparedness Parade, as the country prepared for entry into World War I. Note the American flag that was carried at the time contained 48 stars. It was not until 1959, when Alaska and Hawaii gained statehood, that the flag changed to 50 stars and 13 stripes.

This photograph is from the collection of Richard Weaver, former Petersburgh Town Historian. The entire album is available for viewing at the Petersburgh Public Library, during normal library hours.
