February 28, 2019 By steve bradley

Rensselaer County Republicans officially picked their candidates for countywide races this fall in a County Committee meeting on Monday, February 25.  Sheriff Pat Russo is seeking a second term in office, and Phil Danaher will challenge for Rensselaer County Family Court Judge.  They also backed Tom Reale for Mayor of Troy.

Rensselaer County Republican hierarchy gathered at the Polish Club in South Troy to endorse countywide candidates. Shown here are Troy Mayoral candidate Tom Reale, Assemblyman Jake Ashby, Legislative Chair Mike Stammel, County Executive Steve McLaughlin, Family Court candidate Phil Danaher, Sheriff Pat Russo and County Clerk Frank Merola. Mr. Danaher, a former Rensselaer County Legislator, will oppose current Judge Beth Walsh of Troy.  Mr. Reale will face incumbent Mayor Pat Madden.  As of this time, the Rensselaer County Democratic Party has no candidate to oppose Sheriff Russo.
