 Berlin Middle-High School Competes at 2019 Science Bowl

On Saturday March, 2, the Berlin Middle and High Schools sent teams to compete in the annual Regional Qualifier for the Department of Energy National Science Bowl, which was held at The GE Global Research Center in Niskayuna.

The Berlin Middle School team members were Charlie Brand, Alex Chrisikos, Logan Dunlop, Raymond Ericson, Daniel Rivera, Riley Smith and Connor Sniger. The team placed sixth overall in the gravity-powered vehicle design competition.  

 The Berlin high school team members were Adison Colin, Melanie de Laurentis, Gretta Hermann, Holly Hermann, and Max Lockett. They defeated Amsterdam, Burnt Hills, Ballston Lake, Saratoga Springs and Schenectady High School before falling to 11-time champions, Bethlehem High School, 38-34 on the very last question of the quarterfinal round. In the afternoon competition the middle school team put on a very strong performance in the question and answer rounds earning themselves a place in the semifinals. They came up just a bit short in the semifinals and were defeated by Acadia Middle School from Saratoga Springs.  Congratulations to all of Berlin’s competitors.
