Phillips, a 5’11” sophomore guard, was selected as the state tournament Most Valuable Player.
Watkins Glen’s senior Hannah Morse, who guarded Sophie Phillips for the entire championship game, had this to say about her competitor, “No. 2, I guarded her the whole game. She was super-nice, her sportsmanship was off the charts. She was amazing. I’m really happy for them. She was definitely a difficult person to guard, but I like the challenge.
