Although it was rainy, it didn’t stop children and their parents from attending the Easter Hop Saturday morning at the Brunswick Community Library to gather up their Easter eggs.
Around 300-400 patrons flooded the library’s interior to celebrate Easter. The fun activities that the children participated in during the Easter Hop included having a photo taken with the Easter bunny, picking up Easter eggs that were full of candy and small toys from the library volunteers and library aides to place in their basket, and placing soil into a plastic garden cup to plant a marigold or sunflower.

Children were playing in a swimming pool full of Easter eggs and beach balls, petting baby rabbits, a full grown white rabbit, and a chicken at a 4-H booth, viewing a paper garden flower display, painting their own watercolor cartoon, and face painting. There was a local Girl Scout troop that was also selling Girl Scout cookies.
There was something fun and exciting for everyone, both inside and outside the library. Members of the Rensselaer County Sherriff’s Department and library volunteers were passing out the filled and empty plastic eggs to children outside in their tents as the rain storm was passing through. A fire department car was also on display and present for any emergency in the Children’s Academy parking lot. And for those children and adults that were allergic to candy, they could take home an egg that was full of squishy toys, stamps, animal erasers, and a gift certificate for a free children’s meal for The Texas Roadhouse. This year’s Easter Hop at the Brunswick Community Library was a success. It was a fun way for the community to come together to celebrate spring and Easter.
Save the date to attend the library’s benefit fundraiser, “Garden Day,” for Saturday, June 8, from 9 am to 1 pm. This event will be put on by The Friends of the Brunswick Community Library.
