A New Way To Pay At Hoffman Car Wash
By Doug La Rocque
A redesign of the entrance into the full service car wash and the installation of automated pay stations garnered the approval of the Brunswick Planning Board on Thursday, April 4. The company was back before the Board that evening with the final details of the changes that they say have proven at other locations to speed up the traffic flow. They hope by this means to eliminate the backup of vehicles along the side of the car wash turning in off Hoosick Road (Route 7). At the previous meeting, the Planning Board agreed that the changes to the site plan were minor, and no public hearing was required. The Board also agreed there was no environmental impact created by the modifications.
The noise level at the vacuuming stations was also discussed. That issue was brought up during a public hearing last year on the proposed 201-unit apartment complex being proposed for land behind Planet Fitness, also on Hoosick Road. Hoffman representative Marty Andrews said the President of the company has spoken personally to all the neighbors about their concerns, and that they are instituting a no music playing policy on the site.
The proposal by Robert Irwin for a six-lot major subdivision on Menemsha Lane was pulled from the agenda by the developer, as was a minor four-lot sub division proposed at the corner of Bulson Road and Tambul Lane.
Developer Mark Danskin also asked the board for a waiver, stemming from his proposed seven-lot major subdivision proposed approved in 1998. Nothing was ever built, and when final plans were never filed, the approvals were then revoked by law. Mr. Danskin said he is now looking for a four-lot minor subdivision on property off Liberty Road, and asked that his previous engineering work and septic approvals be used. Board Attorney Andy Gilchrist informed him 21-year old plans were no longer sufficient and that he would have to file a new application, complete with new plot work. Mr. Danskin said he would return in two weeks.
