Sale Of Hoosick Falls Country Club Approved

According to the country club’s President Penny Acree, the sale of the iconic institution located on Richmond Avenue in the village, has been approved by the Board of Directors and is now under contract.  The purchaser is Jamie Jerome of Bennington, the owner of Jerome Construction and President of Ben Venue Enterprises.

The club issued a prepared statement on Monday, April 15, that says “Jamie is well known to the community as an accomplished golfer, landscaper, excavation contractor and builder. Jamie is bringing in Matt Maynard as Golf Course Superintendent. Matt has considerable experience as a greenskeeper and course superintendent. Happily, Bob Petitt is returning for the 2019 season as the clubhouse manager.”

The release also says golf course maintenance and clubhouse renovations are already in progress. The golf course will be open for play with golf carts as soon as spring weather permits.

“Because we are undergoing major changes, we will follow up with a comprehensive explanation of our planned improvements and progress.

Some key points of information moving forward:

• All prepaid memberships and cart leases will be honored for the 2019 golf season. 2019 memberships are available at the clubhouse.

• As always, we are looking for member involvement with our golf tournaments, clubhouse activities and events. We anticipate creating committees to help the club achieve our goals.

•  Beverages and snacks will be available and planning is underway to have restaurant facilities open for everyone to enjoy. We are promoting the clubhouse for banquets, parties and golf events. We and Jamie are excited to have this opportunity to serve the members and the Hoosick Falls community. Our goal is to improve the HFCC experience for everyone.”

The club decided on October 15 of last year to put the facility up for sale, citing a growing tax debt they were unable to overcome.

The Eastwick Press has reached out to Mr. Jerome for more information, but as of press time, we have not been able to connect with him.  The purchase price has not been disclosed.
