Like the sap, the maple sugar season has about run its course. Some below normal temperatures in March slowed down the sap run for some, but most persevered.

In Grafton, Theron O’Dell has been making maple syrup for 70 years, and says he enjoys it just as much as when he was a kid. He first started at the family homestead on Fire Tower Road, and sold his first gallon of syrup to Helen Ellett, the long time fire spotter at the Dickinson Fire Tower.
