Tamarac History Day Competitors Move On

Along with over 100 students from the Capital Region, the Honors 10 class took part in the History Day competition at the State Museum in Albany on Saturday, March 24. Working in groups, the students researched different aspects of local history examining the theme “Triumph and Tragedy.”

All the Tamarac teams received medal recognition, and 3 of the 4 groups will be moving on to the state competition in Cooperstown, NY on April 29.  

The groups and their results: 

“The Anti-Rent War: The Second American Revolution”

by Carter Casey, Jackson Domurad, Tyler Filarecki, Adam Fountain, Liam McDonough, won 2nd Place Senior Division Website  

“Blown to Bits: The Triumph and Tragedy of the Schaghticoke Powder Mill”

by Vanessa Baldwin, Marissa Gosselin,  Jordyn Sorel and Katelyn Stancliffe, won 1st Place Senior Division Website and Best Overall Website Design Award – Senior Division

“Charles Nalle: A Triumphant Rescue from the Tragedy of Slavery”

by Grace D’Angelo, Syrita Faraj, Catrina Murphy, Michaela Pomposello won 3rd Place Senior Division Exhibit

“The Death of Forest Park Cemetery…and the Rebirth”
