PFOA Community Work Group Schedules First Meeting
Recruitment of members for the Hoosick Area Community Participation Work Group (CPWG) is underway, and the first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 30 from 6 to 8 pm at the Hoosick Falls High School in the cafeteria, 21187 NY 22, Hoosick Falls. This meeting is open to the public.
Community members interested in participating on the CPWG were asked to submit a letter of interest by May 17. Candidates for the work group are being contacted the week of May 20 and CPWG membership will be announced in the near future.
The CPWG will provide an ongoing opportunity for the greater Hoosick Falls community to discuss progress of PFOA remedial activity and options being explored for the municipal water supply. This first meeting will include a review of the group’s roles and responsibilities, an overview on the status of the project, and identification of priority topics of interest. Meetings will be held monthly and a 2019 meeting schedule will be made available to the public.
The Hoosick area Superfund sites include Saint-Gobain-McCaffrey Street; former Oak Materials-John Street, Saint-Gobain-Liberty Street, Hoosick Falls Landfill, and Alexander Schmigel Property. Investigative work is also being performed at potential Superfund sites, or “P” sites, which include Oak Materials-River Road, Interface Solutions, Former Dodge Machine, and Allied-Signal Laminate Systems-Mechanic Street.
