Bright Yellow
Trout Lily (Erythronium americanum), named for its mottled leaves, is blooming brightly now in our rich woods. This wildflower is often seen closed, but here it is open in the bright sun and measures about two inches.
Its roots, leaves and flowers have been used medicinally.
