Drug Take Back Day Around The County
County Executive Steve McLaughlin and Sheriff Pat Russo helped kick off Rensselaer County’s participation in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27, at the West Sand Lake Firehouse. The Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department partnered with NY State Police and local law enforcement agencies to provide seven locations throughout the County to ensure the proper disposal of unused prescription and over the counter medications. Unused medications that are often flushed down a toilet or poured down a sink can enter the water supply, posing a risk to public health.
In West Sand Lake, sheriff’s deputies and troopers also set up child safety seat inspections, to help parents make sure their child’s seats are properly installed.
