Berlin Free Library Named Parade Grand Marshall
Submitted by the Berlin 4th of July Committee
For almost as many years as Berlin’s July 4th parade has been held, the Berlin Free Town Library has been a part of the local landscape. The BFTL is honored to be this year’s Grand Marshal to celebrate 125 years of uninterrupted community service. The Library’s humble beginning sprang from the Berlin Chess Club and it has become not only a library in the traditional sense but has evolved to provide Berlin and the surrounding area with eBooks, DVDs, internet access and community programing, enriching the lives of the public served.
The Library strives to discover ways it can continue to grow and reach a growing percentage of the public. Earlier this year the Library held a photo contest, and the participation was fantastic. All the photos are displayed around the library, so please do stop in (47 Main Street), have a cup of coffee, and admire the amazing local images taken by friends and neighbors. Make sure to take pictures of the Parade as there will be another photo contest at summer’s end.
The Berlin Free Town Library exists because of continued support from the patrons, volunteers, board members, and the Town of Berlin, as well as our local businesses. Literary Characters is an appropriate theme for honoring this local institution.
Be a part of the parade and be a part of your community library.
