Cheney Associate Is Volunteer Of The Year

June 29, 2019 By steve bradley

Submitted by Cheney Library Director Sara Yetto

Cheney Library is pleased to announce that longtime library volunteer Margaret Pine has been awarded the Upper Hudson Library System Volunteer of the Year Award. This award recognizes a library volunteer who made extraordinary contributions to their library while demonstrating leadership in a volunteer position.

Margaret played a vital role in the organization of Cheney Library’s new Multipurpose Room, stocking the room with items and facilitating a safe environment for workers. She also created a storage space for Cheney Library’s Story Hour materials. Finally, Margaret continues to ensure the success of the library’s book sales. Besides keeping shelves freshly stocked and logically arranged, Margaret vets each book to ensure it is relevant and in good condition. Currently, Cheney Library’s book sale space looks like that of a new bookstore.

Through the years, Margaret has made a notable difference at Cheney Library. Her commitment to her community, and to librarianship as a whole, have earned her the well-deserved Volunteer of the Year Award.
