Volunteers gathered on Friday, June 21, to receive and stack over 2,000 pounds of food and household products for the first Free Family Assistance Day held at the HACA Food Pantry on Saturday, June 22. The distribution was the kick-off to the summer program. Foods from soup to nuts, including canned and fresh fruits and vegetables, canned meat, cereal, bread, condiments, snacks, crackers, cookies, juice, peanut butter, pasta and sauce, were available for selection. In addition, household products, such as bedding, suncreen, aluminum foil, and paper products, were available.

During the summer families struggle when the school free breakfast and lunch programs are not available. Extra visits to the Pantry are offered during this period. In August Back2 School Boost will provide backpacks and age appropriate school supplies to over 150 students. Sign-up sheets are available at the HACA Food Pantry at 26 John Street, as well as all HACA churches, Hoosick Falls Central School and Hoosick Family Center on River Road. Requests will be filled after August 1 as they are received in order that families can plan for any special back to school needs.
Supplies can be left at any HACA Church, the Food Pantry Cart in Tops Market, or Tri-State Area Federal Credit Union. Suggested items include: erasers, glue bottles, index cards, highlighters, markers, notebooks, composition books, loose leaf paper, tab dividers, 3 ring binders, pens, pencils, rulers and pencil boxes
Monetary contributions are appreciated as they enable us to purchase backpacks and other specifically needed items. A donation of $25 provides a fully stocked, age-appropriate back pack.
Contributions may be sent to HACA, PO Box #1, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.
