On a day that was as perfect as a day could be, people came out to honor the veterans of our Armed Services who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country and the people that live in it.
Beginning at 8 am, the USA flag was raised in Wood Park. From there, everyone moved to the Shop Bridge, where a wreath was tossed into the river to honor the men of the U.S. Navy. Following that, Civil War dead were honored at Monument Park. From there, everyone assembled again in Wood Park to place wreaths at the WW I, WW II, Korea and Vietnam monuments. Veteran Edward “Ike” Powers was the Grand Marshall.

The parade began at 10 am and spectators lined Church and Main streets to watch the 40 minute long event. People clapped as floats, musicians, fire trucks and military people went by. After the parade, people filled the Wood Park to visit, eat hot dogs and hamburgers, and listen to the music of West Side Drive with locals Krissy Fauler and Dave Stagnitti.
