The native wildflower called False Solomon’s Seal (Smilacina racemosa) is blooming now in our wooded areas with leaves between three and six inches. Later this summer, red berries will replace the flowers.
The roots and leaves have been used as a medicinal herb. The wildflower called Solomon’s Seal that bloomed a little earlier this year has similar leaves but flowers are shaped like bells.
