Pollinator in Action
National Pollinator Week ended this week. Birds, bats, butterflies, beetles, wasps, moths, flies, small mammals, and most importantly, bees are pollinators. They visit flowers to drink nectar and carry pollen as they move from spot to spot.

This bumble bee was doing just that when caught in action on a Petersburgh lawn. Most flowering plants need pollinators. One of three bites of food resulted from pollination. At a time when pollinator populations are declining, humans can stop or reduce use of pesticides as one means to keep our pollinators healthy and keep healthy food on our plates.
