Monday, May 4, 1846: This morning at daybreak I started with my two horse wagon to go to Vermont to move the Universalist minister to Pittsfield. I got to Williamstown College at ten o’clock and baited and grained my team of my own fodder to Gray’s Tavern and then went on through Pownal and through Bennington to East Shaftsborough to said E. C. Hughes and partly loaded up my load of goods and tonight I stayed to R, Fish, a near neighbor to said Hughes.
Tuesday: On this forenoon we finished boxing up the goods and loaded up. We came to East Bennington and bated and grained. Then we came to Pownal to Right’s and stayed tonight.
Wednesday I had my breakfast and grain at said Right’s and then we went on through Williamstown to New Ashford to Dewey’s and took dinner. We came on through Lanesborough to Pittsfield at 5 o’clock. There we met said Hughes and we left our loads at South Street. Said Hughes boy came with our teams and drove a cow and said Hughes pays all expenses on the road and I do not make him any charge for moving him, but he will come and give several lectures. I grained my team and started for home at sunset and got home at ten o’clock this evening.
Thursday: Today Mr. Jinks took dinner with me, he came to look at cows I have for sale.
Monday, May 11: Towards night a snow storm, I got my sheep and lambs into my Rodgers barn.
Tuesday: I called down to the gate to Laseure to see David Harrington to see when he would come to work for me, but he did give me no direct answer
