Town Board Follow Up
by Doug La Rocque
The following is the remainder of the report on the Monday, July 8, Grafton Town Board meeting:
Highway Superintendent Herb Hasbrouck told the gathering, now that it has stopped raining almost every day, his department is beginning to catch up on grading and springtime road repairs. He did say some roads in the western portion of the Town have not yet been completely attended to, but felt that would be resolved very soon. He also said the Department has received $22,000 in Winter Relief monies from New York State, something that had been indicated they were not going to receive this year.
The Grafton Library has 51 participants in its Summer Reading program and plans a celebration for all the readers on August 20. Phase 1 of the library construction work downstairs, the vestibule and rear parking lot, is nearly complete and they will soon be moving into phase 2, involving upstairs renovations.
The damage caused to the Town Hall roof and Salt Shed by a wind storm earlier this year, has been repaired. It was also reported the Town Hall roof is in need of some structural repairs, sooner rather than later.
The Grafton Rescue Squad reported 9 calls in June, but they were unable to confirm a crew twice, both daytime situations. The Summer Youth Program at Grafton Lakes State Park is proceeding nicely, and Dog Control Officer Vicky Burdick reported five calls last month, pertaining to loose or barking animals. In her role as Town Clerk, she presented the Board with a check for $3,124 representing office revenue in June.
