River Street Market Is Officially Open

By Amy Modesti

The ribbon was officially cut on Thursday, July 18 for downtown Troy’s newest place to park yourself for lunch. River Street Market is located on the first floor of the Hedley Park Place building on River Street and features such eateries as LuKa’s Salumeria & Spirits, Prime Burder and Shakehouse, Copper Pot, Maria’s, Pap’s Best Batch and Hatch Test Kitchen.

Kevin Bette, President of First Columbia cuts the ribbon for the grand opening of the River Street Market, with the assistance of Troy Common Council President Carmella Mantello, while Rensselaer County Legislative Chairman Mike Stammel looks on. The Grand Opening Ceremonies were coordinated by the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce. Photo by Amy Modesti.

According to developer Kevin Bette of the First Columbia Group, they are very optimistic about the potential success of River Street Market, as the Hedley Park Place building houses 1,200 employees, including those at Troy City Hall.  Nearly another 1,000 workers and students are housed nearby, with the newly opened Courtyard by Marriott hotel virtually across the street.
