Last week members from the Berlin, Grafton, Stephentown and Petersburgh Fire Departments visited the Berlin Central School District to talk about and demonstrate fire safety and prevention.
Wednesday the Firefighters held an assembly at the Elementary School that was followed by students exploring fire trucks and receiving demonstrations of the Firefighter’s gear.

Thursday the Firefighters were invited to attend a breakfast at the Middle-High School as a thank you for their dedication to the community. The breakfast was hosted by Mrs. Hammersmith and FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) members Rebecca and Riley Smith.
After the breakfast a schoolwide assembly was held for all middle and high school students. The assembly was kicked off with an exciting visit and demonstration by the Rensselaer K-9 Sheriff Arson Investigation team.
Following the demonstration two students from each grade level represented their class in a game of fire safety themed Jeopardy, hosted by the firefighters. The winning 10th grade class received $250 to go into its class fund.
Thank you to the brave and dedicated Firefighters from Grafton, Stephentown, Petersburgh and Berlin for dedicating time to the Berlin Central School District last week.
