SVFD Welcomes New EMT
The Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) is happy to announce that Anita Henry achieved her EMT certification and is now an active EMT for the Department.
“The need for EMTs is acute,” says Chief Jon Angley, “so we are thrilled that Anita responded to the call and decided to serve the community as an EMT.”
Anita joined the SVFD earlier this year as an ambulance driver and right away was a frequent responder to calls. “I never expected to become an EMT or even particularly wanted to,” explains Anita, “but once I started driving for the SVFD, I realized I could do it.

And that becoming an EMT was not just a meaningful way to help my neighbors and give back, but it was a satisfying challenge for me.” This summer she completed the 160-hour certification course and passed her exam in September. She joins Jon Angley, Rik McClave, and Laura Ryder as an active EMT in the SVFD.
If you are interested in learning more about how you can serve your community as an EMT or an ambulance driver, drop by the Fire Station on a Tuesday drill night between 7 and 8:30 pm. Officers and members can answer your questions and talk about all of the rewarding aspects of volunteer service.
