Ribbon Cutting For New Stewart’s Shop
By Doug La Rocque
County and town officials joined representatives of Stewart’s Shops on Friday morning, November 15, to officially open the company’s newest store, at the corner of NY Routes 22 and 67, right where the old shop once stood. The new building is about twice the size of the previous structure, with three gasoline islands, which dispense diesel and kerosene as well. The store also offers all the latest Stewart’s fast food improvements while continuing long time staples like milk, bread and ice cream.

Perhaps the biggest comment heard at the Grand Opening was about parking…something the previous shop had precious little of, with access to the roadway sometimes difficult. That is no longer the case, with the number of parking spaces greatly enhanced and well off the road.
The shop was handed certificates of appreciation from the Town of Hoosick, Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin, Senator Daphne Jordan’s office as well as that of Assemblyman Jake Ashby.
Whenever Stewart’s opens a new store, it is a company tradition to make a donation to an area charity or organization. In this case, $1,500 worth of milk and egg gift certificates were presented to the Hoosick Area Church Association (HACA) for use in its food pantry and upcoming Thanksgiving food giveaway. HACA Executive Director Dianne Hosterman said they were extremely grateful to Stewart’s, especially given the need at this time of year. Simply put, she said, “it’s a blessing.”
