Krause Wins Voice Of Democracy Essay Contest Again

Submitted by Rachel Turetsky

Congratulations to Kylieann Krause who, for the second year in a row, is the local winner of the Voice of Democracy annual essay competition. A junior at Berlin High School, Kylieann will now move on with her audio essay to compete at a higher level.

Kylieann Krause

The Voice of Democracy has been a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) scholarship program since 1947. Prizes and scholarships are awarded at the VFW’s local post, district, state and national levels. Kylieann will be awarded a $500 scholarship in June for her local win.

Every year approximately four hundred thousand high school students throughout the country compete by writing and recording an essay on a patriotic theme. This year’s theme was “What Makes America Great.”

Congratulations are also in order for 10th-grader Brady Hills and 11th grader Jordanne Brazie for their excellent entries.

Berlin Central School district wishes Kylieann good luck in the rest of the competition!
