It Is Officially The “Ann Bornt Municipal Building”

By Doug La Rocque

Prior to the Tuesday, December 10 Village Board meeting, past and present Village Board members and other officials, joined Ann Bornt’s family and friends to officially name the municipal building after the Village’s long-time clerk.  The weather wasn’t the greatest for the 5:45 pm dedication, but just like Ann’s irrepressible spirit, it could not dampen the family’s pride or the Village’s gratitude for Ann and all she did for Hoosick Falls for so long.

Ann Bornt’s family stands behind the monument that officially dedicates the Village’s municipal building to the long-time clerk.

The idea was first brought up earlier this year, to rename the Village Board meeting room after Ann, who passed away in office last year.  A question was raised about the legality, because the room also serves as the Village courtroom. So the decision was made to name the entire building after her, and Deputy Mayor Bob Ryan took the matter from there.

Scott and Kari Bornt unveiled the monument to their mother which was followed by words of appreciation by Mayor Rob Allen, Deputy Mayor Ryan and a letter from former Mayor David Borge, who was not able to attend.
