Newest Town Board Member Is Sworn In

By Amy Modesti

Just prior to the January 9 Town Board session Mark Cipperly took the oath of office from Justice Robert Schmidt, assuming the seat previously held by Dan Casale, who chose not to seek re-election.

What followed was a rather brief first regular meeting of the year.

The board approved resolutions labeling some highway equipment as surplus so it could be sold, decommissioned the security deposit for the Hope Solar Farm in Eagle Mills and renewed its agreement with the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society for animal shelter services. The Board also discussed changes to recycling fees in light of the fact most waste haulers are now charging for recyclables that include plastic and glass. The Board also spoke about the pricing for dog licenses.
