Grafton Soldier IsPart Of Afghan Deployment

The soldiers of the 206th Military Police Company, their family members and New York National Guard leaders gathered at the Division of Military and Naval Affairs headquarters in Latham on Saturday afternoon, January 4, for a military farewell ceremony. Among them is Specialist Ryan Gosse of Grafton. Ironically, the departure ceremony took place on his 21st birthday. The 24 members of the company are being placed on federal military duty and depart for their mobilization station at Fort Bliss Texas on Thursday, January 9.

Following three weeks of specialized training, the company will depart to provide personnel security for a General Officer in Afghanistan. They are expected to spend months on overseas duty, returning to the United States in late 2020.

Editor’s Note:  If there is a service member in our area who is being deployed outside of the country, please let us at The Eastwick Press know, so we may properly honor them.
