Nice Day For a Plunge In The Lake
By Doug La Rocque
The snow hung around long enough to make the winter events at the 35th Grafton Lakes State Park Winter Festival possible The event is always highlighted by the annual Polar Plunge, where hearty souls take a dip in Long Pond. Temperatures on Saturday, January 25, hovered around 30 degrees in the morning, so no one emerged looking like an icicle, and no one needed assistance from members of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team, on hand for the Plunge and ice diving demonstration.

The festival was well attended, as in previous years and offered horse-drawn carriage rides, demonstrations by the Park Police K-9 unit, and sled rides by the Northland Newfoundland’s, among many other activities. Rumor has it a snowball fight even broke out.
