The first win came on Friday, January 17 against the Mount Anthony Patriots for the first triumph over the Bennington, VT school in over 13 years. The final score was 56 to 35. Alex Sotek recorded individual wins in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke, while Abby Seyerlein won twice as well, in the 500 Freestyle and 100 Breast Stroke. The team posted wins in the 200 Medley, 200 and 400 Freestyle team races. Mikayla Corsey had two second place finishes while Chloe Meyers, Amelia McDonald and Mia Thompson each placed second in their races.
The NL-B boys dropped the contest to the Patriots 43 to 37 with Riley Schwarts posting a victory in the 200 Freestyle. Liam Buckenroth won both the 500 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke.
The 400 Freestyle Relay team also finished first, with Matt Kluck recording a Sectional qualifying time of 26.5 seconds in the 50 Freestyle race.
Sotek Sets More Records
Both NL-B teams posted victories in the Tuesday, January 21 contest with the Taconic Braves. Alex Sotek again led the way in record breaking fashion, as she set school marks in her 100 and 200 Freestyle wins. Ms. Sotek now owns or shares 6 school records. Carol Kirsimingi won her 100 Butterfly race. The 200 Medley Relay, as well as the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay races, were claimed by NL-B this day.
Unlike last Friday, the boys team came away victorious against the Pittsfield MA based school by a margin of 47 to 24. Liam Buckenroth claimed the 500 Freestyle event, with the team winning the 200 Medley Relay as well as the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relay events.
