Newly Elected Town Officials Sworn In

By Doug La Rocque

Everett Madden joined re-elected officials in a swearing-in ceremony held on Thursday, January 2 at the Town Hall, as he become the newest member of the Town Board, replacing Gerald Robinson, who chose not to seek re-election after many years of service.

Also sworn in were Councilman Bill Jennings, Town Supervisor Larry Eckhardt, Highway Superintendent Aldie Goodermote, Town Clerk Stephanie Wagar and Tax Collector Mary Grant.

Immediately following the ceremony, the Board held its annual reorganization meeting, making a number of key appointments for 2020. Stephentown does not appoint a Deputy Supervisor per se, but the Board did authorize Councilman Jennings to sign checks in Supervisor Eckhardt’s absence.

Derrick Gardner is the Planning Board Chair, Roland Barth continues as chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and Dean Herrick returns as Codes Enforcement Officer and Building Inspector.  Owen Cassavaugh was re-appointed Deputy. Matthew Carey was appointed to a five-year term on the Planning Board.  The Town Board will continue to meet on the third Monday of each month at 7 pm.
