29 Years Of  Tax Collections

No one enjoys paying their taxes, but a town’s tax collector doesn’t set the tax rates, she just receives the money and passes it on to the powers that be. So perhaps the old phrase, “don’t shoot the messenger” is appropriate here. At the Grafton Town Board meeting on Monday, February 10, Supervisor Ingrid Gundrum and the Board presented Mary Gentner with a bouquet of flowers and a commendation for her 29 years of service to the Town.

Ms. Gentner chose not to seek re-election last year, but another old phrase comes to mind with her successor, that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – Grafton voters chose Amanda Gentner-Goyer as the new tax collector.  She is Mary’s daughter.
