The Pot of Gold Can Be Found In Hoosick Falls This March

Submitted by Kevin O’Malley

Plans are underway for the 2020 Village of Hoosick Falls St. Patrick’s Day Parade to be held Saturday, March 14 at 1 pm. Twenty six years ago, local Irishmen Mike Conway and TJ Carmody wanted to find a way to keep the Irish Culture and History alive in the Hoosick area, and decided that a parade was the Ticket!

A young Irish Princess adorns the parade route at last year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. File photo.

Float entries are now being accepted. This year’s theme is Shamrocks. Make an entry with friends, family, co-workers, organizations or businesses. There are prizes for the top three floats. Participating bands in this year’s parade are the Olde Saratoga Fyfe’s and Drums, Taconic Pipe Band, Hoosick Falls Pep Band, The Brattleboro American Legion Band, The Yankee Doodle Band and the Berkshire Highlanders Pipe Band. The parade will also feature floats, fire trucks and dancers.

The parade begins in Wood Park, travels down Main St, John St. Church St, Willard St and back down Main St to Wood Park once again. The parade steps off at 1 pm with line-up at 12:20 pm.

After the parade enjoy the Irish Festival. There are many different events at various locations around the Town of Hoosick. The Hoosick Armory will host a fun-filled day with great Irish music, Craic Agus Ceol, Irish Dance with The Hubbard Hall Irish Dancers and a great corned beef sandwiches and food from Jeans. For information on the parade and Irish Festival check out our Facebook page or contact Kevin O’Malley at 518-894-5035 or hoosickkid@gmail.com
