Town Board Revises Grader Purchase Approval
The New Lebanon Town Board met in a special session on Tuesday, January 21 to rectify what Town Supervisor Tistrya Houghtling described as a procedural error. At its regular meeting on January 14, the board approved a motion to purchase a used 2015 highway grader for a cost not to exceed $162,000. Supervisor Houghtling told the other board members at the special session, the Town’s bond attorney informed her that should not have happened until the bond resolution was approved first. That is also subject to a possible permissive referendum.
At the regular meeting, it was discussed but not decided on to put $20,000 down on the grader purchase, which would lower the amount of any bond to $142,000. At the January 21 session, the board members formally agreed to do so. Supervisor Houghtling then made a motion that modified the previous motion making any bid award on a new grader contingent upon adoption and subject to the terms of the bond resolution on the basis that a mistake in procedure was made. The new motion was approved with all five members in favor.
