Panther Bowlers Win League Championship Game Match

Tuesday, February 3, Barbecue Recreation in Hoosick Falls: Hoosick Falls and Mechanicville met for the 2019-2020 Wasaren League Championship Match.

Led by seniors Colin Cipperly 245-650 and Evan Webster 245-689, the Panthers jumped out to a 129 pin lead in the first game.

Senior Jacob LaFountain 290-736 and junior Glenn Prairie 266-591 led a Mechanicville surge in the second game, seizing a 105 pin lead before the match’s third and final game.  A balanced charge by the Panthers and senior Owynn Arnold 253-612, put the Panthers back in front at the end, with Hoosick Falls finishing with a total of 3760 pins to Mechanicville’s 3646.

Other top scores for Mechanicville included: Ryan Williams 234-617, Brian Eccles 223-601, Chris O’Connor 212-588, Zach Hartz 191-513, Connor Starks 188, and Justin Pugliese 182. 

Top scores for Hoosick Falls included: Colin King 221-615, Erin McCart 216-599, Brody Mullen 220-597, Ziena Hurlburt 242-595, Kendra Marshall 213-567, Riley Hayes 209-566, Jordyn Wilwol 192-561, Bradley Senecal 199-554, Ryan Maxon 202-551, Ethan Yonconish 198-530, Troy McCart 184-534, Jenna Backes 181-525, Payton Merrills 191.

The Wasaren League Championship ends a perfect regular season for Hoosick Falls that included a 60-0 Wasaren League regular season point record, a 13-0 league and non-league match record, a Schenectady New Year Invitational win and a Wasaren League Tournament win.

The Panthers will now send three bowlers, junior Kendra Marshall, sophomore Riley Hayes and eighth grader Payton Merrills, to compete individually in the Girls’ Section 2 Tournament on Thursday February 6th at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectady.

The rest of the team will compete in the Boys Section 2 Tournament on Tuesday February 11, also at Boulevard Bowl.  Hoosick Falls will join fellow Wasaren schools Saratoga Catholic, Stillwater, Hoosic Valley, Berlin and Waterford in competing for the Class C/D title.

Mechanicville will compete on Monday February 10 in Class B.
