Monday: At one o’clock this morning John F. took the one horse wagon and carried me to the gate at the Alps village in Nassau and from there I walked to Troy by eight o’clock. I went as jury to the County Court. The jury was called in the forenoon and then in the afternoon and dismissed until Thursday at ten o’clock, no cases on the docket to be tried. I took breakfast at Wm. I left Troy at nearly five o’clock for home. I rode to Sand Lake with a lumber man by the name of Hawkins. I stopped to cousin Chauncy Rows and took supper, and got home by twelve o’clock tonight.

Tonight I took board in Third Street No 47, to a boarding house to the widow Margaret Orr, bargained to pay two dollars and 50 cts per week. I paid three cts to Wm. Chapman for gin.
