Statement from Brittonkill
Superintendent Dr. Angela Maloney
During this unprecedented time of classes being canceled our District is committed to the safety and well-being of our students. Lunches and breakfasts will be delivered to the homes of all families that qualify for free or reduced lunch as well as any other family that requests meals at no charge for the duration of the school closure. My worry is that the unexpected change in employment status for several families, for example those that work in the service industry, may have left some that previously didn’t need meals, now in need. We strongly encourage our families to reach out during this difficult time and we will do our best to support each other. In addition, our backpack program will continue and we will be delivering directly to the homes.
We are also utilizing technology to stay connected to our students as we want to keep things as normal for them as possible. Many community members are joining us on live stream videos to have books and poems read as well as other engaging educational opportunities.
