Cambridge Girls Defeat Maple Hill To Be Section 2 Champs For The Third Year In A Row

Cambridge (22-1) handily defeated the #2 Class C team in the state and the Section 2, Class C #2 seed Maple Hill (20-2) Saturday to become the 2020 Champions for the third year in row. After jumping out to a 25-10 lead in the first quarter the Cambridge Indians cruised the rest of the way for the win.
It wasn’t the best long range shooting game the Indians ever had but the defense more than made up for that by getting Maple Hill to commit 30 turnovers. Cambridge used a full court press that caused Maple Hill to struggle to get a pass to a player on their own team, as many of those passes ended up in a Cambridge players hands.
Sophie Phillips had 23 points and sister Lilly added 18.
Next Saturday the Lady Indians will face the winner of the Section 7 or Section 10 regional contests. Game time is 6 pm at Hudson Valley Community College.
