Setting The Assessor’s Term Of Office
At the February 24 meeting of the Grafton Town Board Craig Surprise was appointed as Assessor, replacing David Galarneau, whose term expired on September 30 of last year. Galarneau had remained on the job because the past town board did not make an appointment. At its brief meeting on Monday, March 9, the Board officially set Surprise’s term of office, which began on March 1, and will end by law on September 30, 2025. There were only three board members present, Frank Lewandusky and Jodie Deschaine being absent. All three voted in favor.
Highway Superintendent Jarod Bouchard again approached the Board about purchasing or leasing two new trucks this year, hoping to start a program where the town highway equipment is turned over every three years, while still under warranty and has a trade in value.
One resident asked about repairing the basketball court located behind the town store on North Long Pond Road. There was discussion about investigating a bond resolution for work on the court as well as many other town owned properties and equipment that are in need of repair, while bond rates are at their lowest level in years. No decision was made.
The meeting was adjourned in memory of James Burkett and Joseph Yerke.
