HFCS Student Shadows Assemblyman Ashby At Capital

Submitted by the Office of Assemblyman Ashby

Assemblyman Jake Ashby welcomed Hoosick Falls High School senior Madeline Walker to job shadow him during one of his legislative days in the Capitol. Walker was introduced in the Assembly Chamber on Wednesday, February 26, as she joined the Assemblyman on his duties while in Albany.

“I always enjoy sharing with students the work that we do here in the Capitol. If there is a student passionate about government and serving their communities, I will always make time to let them shadow and see what exactly it is we do in Albany,” said Ashby. “It is my hope that it gives them a clearer view of the work I and my staff do to serve the people of my district and inspires them to make a difference in whatever they choose to pursue in the future.”

While job shadowing, Walker was able to join the assemblyman in meetings, gain insight into the legislative process and to sit beside Ashby during debate and voting during legislative session. Those interested in possible job shadowing opportunities are welcome to call 518-455-5777 or email the assemblyman at ashbyj@nyassembly.gov.
